The Nordex Group has received an order to raise the yield of a total of 63 existing multi-megawatt wind turbines for ERG SpA in Italy.
The operator plans to equip three wind farms with the performance-enhancing Xtended Power technology. The technology, capable of increasing yields by up to 2%, uses a combination of optimized pitch control and a more intelligent turbine control system, according to Nordex.
The manufacturer has offered the Xtended Power package for the N80/2500, N90/2500 and N90/2300 turbines since last fall.
The Fossa del Lupo and Amaroni wind farms, situated in the region of Catanzaro, have been in operation for approximately five years, says Nordex. The third project, Vicari, is located in Sicily and has been feeding green electricity into the Italian grid for nine years.
Nordex’s N90/2500 turbines, being used in all three projects, were initially serviced by Nordex since their installation and are fully operated by Erg.
The Xtended-Power technology is included as a standard in the company’s newer turbines, Nordex notes.
