The Nordex Group has confirmed that negotiations are currently being held with its partner, Acciona Energia, regarding a 183 MW wind farm in Chile.
In the latest round of tenders on the Chilean energy market, Acciona Energia was awarded a contract to feed some 500 GWh of electricity into the grid per annum.
As the project developer announced last week, it is planning to build a 183 MW wind farm and is holding negotiations with the Nordex Group as the preferred turbine manufacturer.
The project will be located in the region of La Araucania and will feed power into the Chilean grid at the beginning of 2022 (at the latest). Further details on the start of construction work will depend on the outcome of the ongoing negotiations.
According to Nordex, Chile is currently the fastest-growing wind market in Latin America: The sector expects to increase in capacity by an average of 350 MW/year until 2025.
