NextEra Energy Canada says the 102 MW Goshen Wind Energy Center project, located in the Ontario municipalities of Bluewater and South Huron, is operational.
According to NextEra, wind farm construction began last August, and it employed more than 200 local laborers and engaged more than 75 local businesses. Throughout the construction process, the project invested more than C$13 million in local businesses.
In addition to the economic benefits realized throughout construction of the project, NextEra says the local community will start to receive some of the longer-term economic benefits outlined during the public consultation and construction phases, such as the payment of local property taxes. In addition, the Goshen Wind Energy Center will contribute more than $300,000 per year for 20 years to the municipality of South Huron.
