NextEra Energy Canada says both recently completed Ontario-based wind farms have started to produce power.
The 60 MW Adelaide Wind Energy Center and 73 MW Bornish Wind Energy Center, both located in Middlesex County, Ontario, have been providing environmental and economic benefits since beginning construction in November 2013.
‘In addition to supplying emissions-free electricity to Ontario, we are pleased to have been able to invest in and contribute to the local economy in Middlesex County,’ says Ben Greenhouse, NextEra Energy Canada's director of development. ‘We would not have been able to complete the projects without the ongoing support from the community and our partners, and we look forward to continued engagement through operations.’
NextEra notes that wind farm construction has employed more than 300 local workers and engaged 21 Middlesex County businesses that have contributed services ranging from materials, equipment, utilities, labor, housing and subcontractors. Throughout the process, millions of dollars were invested in local businesses in Middlesex County, notes NextEra.
