A new wind technician college textbook is the first in the U.S. to focus on wind turbine maintenance, according to the Maine Wind Industry Initiative.
The textbook – Maintenance Fundamentals for Wind Technicians, 1st Edition – was written by Wayne Kilcollins, a wind power technology instructor at Northern Maine Community College (NMCC), and is published by Delmar, Cengage Learning.
The textbook was created with substantial industry support. The PLARAD Group provided torque tools and corresponding training seminars in Maine, as well as photo material used in the book. PLARAD also initiated a donation campaign for NMCC in Germany. Additional technical support and content also came from First Wind, The University of Maine in Presque Isle and the Cianbro Corp.
