Direct Energy, a subsidiary of Centrica, has launched New Leaf Energy, a program that allows customers to obtain 100% of their electricity from wind energy produced in Texas.
New Leaf Energy is available to customers in Greater Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Corpus Christi, and is offered in six-, 12- and 24-month fixed-rate plans, as well as in no-contract variable plans.
The cost of participating in the program averages about $25 per month more than average market electricity rates.
