Portland, Ore.-based Element Power Americas says it will add a 50 MW solar power installation to the Macho Springs Wind Energy Facility, which is already operating in Luna County, N.M. The solar addition will comprise thin-film photovoltaic panels.
The 50.4 MW Macho Springs wind project, which features 28 Vestas V100-1.8 MW wind turbines, was completed in 2011 and currently sells its output to Tucson Electric Power under a long-term power purchase agreement.
