E Wind LLC has received approval to proceed with its 30 MW, 18-turbine wind project in Wisconsin. The company received approval from the town of Randolph, Wis., through a joint development agreement, which was contingent on approval of the Glacier Hills Project by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.
E Wind is made up of three partners who worked with landowners to lease property rights for the wind turbines. The company installed a wind measurement tower and also worked with transmission owners to study connection possibilities.
‘We staked some possible turbine locations in the winter of 2008 and spent the next year moving those locations around to address all the concerns of the landowners and community members,’ says Wes Slaymaker of WES Engineering LLC and a partner in E wind.
The company hired law firm Cullen Weston Pines and Bach LLP to assist with negotiating the agreement with the town of Randolph, Wis.
E Wind plans to acquire a power purchase agreement from a utility, and expects to begin construction in time to receive Treasury Department cash grants for renewable energy projects.
