Constellation Energy's subsidiary, Constellation NewEnergy, will supply wind-generated renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the United States Tennis Association (USTA) for the 2009 US Open.
Approximately 2,000 Green-e certified wind RECs will match the electricity consumed at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center over the duration of the US Open, held Aug. 31 – Sept. 13.
‘Renewable energy certificates give us an ability to both improve the sustainability of the US Open and highlight the use of renewable energy to a worldwide audience,’ says Danny Zausner, managing director of USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
