Jeff Wright, vice president of Midwest Wind Finance (MWF), has been selected by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) to be the session chair for the community wind sessions at the organization's WINDPOWER 2009 conference in Chicago. MWF specializes in financing community-scale wind projects throughout the U.S. The conference will be held May 4-7 at the McCormick Place Convention Center.
‘We are honored to have been selected to have a leadership role at this prestigious conference,’ says Ken Valley, MWF founder and president. ‘Our mission has been to do whatever it takes to support community wind development, and hopefully, these sessions will play a part in continuing to do that.’
Wright was a speaker at the 2008 AWEA national conference in Houston, covering many of the challenges faced by community wind developers, including negotiating power purchase agreements, sourcing wind turbines, securing financing and managing the sequence of late-stage development steps. For this year's conference, Wright will be responsible for selecting speakers for the community wind sessions and for moderating one of the sessions.
