Mortenson Construction has completed construction of its 21st wind project in Texas to date: the Spinning Spur II wind farm, which is located in Oldham County.
Project developer EDF Renewable Energy recently announced commercial operation of Spinning Spur II, which also represents the 24th wind project that Mortenson has built for the long-time customer.
Mortenson's overall scope of work on the 167 MW project included engineering, procurement and construction of all access roads, foundations, wind turbine erection, collection system, operations and maintenance building, and the installation of MET towers. The project was one of the first to connect to Texas' Competitive Renewable Energy Zone transmission lines.
According to the company, approximately 200 jobs were created throughout the course of construction, which began in June 2013. To date, Mortenson's wind project tally in North America is 137 projects completed or under construction.
