Moog Invests In Wind Energy Unit of LTi REEnergy

East Aurora, N.Y.-based Moog Inc., a manufacturer of precision control components, has acquired 40% ownership of the wind energy business of privately held LTi REEnergy GmbH, for approximately $28 million. This deal provides Moog with an electromechanical blade pitch control system (PCS) to complement its existing electrohydraulic blade pitch control and transmission systems.

‘Pitch control systems hold the key to maximizing and protecting a multi million-dollar wind turbine,’ says David Fijas, general manager at Moog. ‘We believe we can take our experience with creating motion-control systems for the aerospace and manufacturing industries and make the LTi REEnergy PCS even more high-performance. Our longer-range strategy involves tapping our engineering know-how to continually improve the existing solution.’
