Montreal Wind Farm Canceled

A wind farm that was proposed for Montreal has been canceled after Quebec's environmental review agency said the project would have disturbed agricultural land and disrupted the migration of geese and other species, CBC reports.

The project was slated to have 25 turbines and a capacity of up to 50 MW.

The Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement, Quebec's environmental review agency, did not raise major concerns about the distance of the wind turbines from residents. The agency, however, did say that the project's developer, a subsidiary of TransAlta, did not properly consult local residents.
