Gov. Brian Schweitzer, D-Mont., is meeting with officials from wind and transmission companies in Germany and Spain to build more business and economic activity in Montana, especially in the renewable energy sector of the economy. He is being accompanied by Chief Business Development Officer Evan Barrett.
‘This is an opportunity to build and grow energy business in Montana and create more high-paying jobs for workers in our state,’ says Schweitzer. ‘I have been actively recruiting business to Montana, from North American companies to European companies – both play a vital role in our economic development.’
The governor plans to meet with officials from several companies, including Fuhrlaender AG, a wind turbine manufacturer; Chafin LLC, a wind farm developer; and
Grasslands Renewable Energy LLC, a transmission line developer.
These companies have been developing business in Montana, and Schweitzer says he is encouraging them to continue to expand the business relationships with the state.
