Chinese wind turbine maker Ming Yang has obtained type certification for multi-megawatt wind turbine/IEC 61400-22 certification from standards body TUV Rheinland.
According to TUV Rheinland, the project involves the type certification of a 2.0 MW wind turbine, which will be marketed worldwide, particularly in India.
The turbine has a rotor diameter of 118 m and will be available with two different hub heights: 85 m and 90 m. The project is being completed as part of a partnership launched in 2013 between TUV Rheinland and Chinese certifier, China General Certification Center.
In 2013, Ming Yang was ranked among the 10 largest wind turbine manufacturers according to installed capacity and is the largest non-governmental wind turbine manufacturer in China, the company notes.
