The Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (Midwest ISO) welcomed Gov. Mitch Daniels, R-Ind., as the keynote speaker for its annual stakeholders' meeting in Indianapolis.
Daniels thanked the Midwest ISO and its members for their leadership in electric reliability, calling the organization a metaphor for the state's outlook on energy.
The Midwest ISO's annual meeting brings together electric industry leaders, utility executives and state regulators from the 13 states and Canadian province of Manitoba that participate in the electric grid operator.
At this year's meeting, participants addressed how to meet challenges facing the industry, such as an aging base load fleet, potential environmental regulations and/or legislation, renewable energy policy, and more efficient management of demand and supply resources.
‘We come together with a shared goal of finding innovative ways to unlock the value that a smarter, more efficient grid brings to all energy users,’ said John R. Bear, president and CEO of the Midwest ISO.
