Midwest Governors Plan Energy Summit

According to the office of Gov. Jim Doyle, D-Wis., chairman of the Midwestern Governors Association (MGA), Milwaukee will host the Midwestern Governors Association Energy Security and Climate Change Summit in November.

At the summit, governors from across the Midwest plan to pursue new regional initiatives to increase production and use of renewable energy, promote energy efficiency and ensure a reliable electrical grid. The gathering will be cohosted by Gov. Tim Pawlenty, R-Minn., immediate past chairman of the MGA and current chairman of the National Governors Association.

‘Our nation has enjoyed more than a hundred years of inexpensive energy, seemingly inexhaustible oil and a relatively forgiving environment,’ Pawlenty says. ‘But America can no longer rely on business-as-usual to meet its energy needs, and the nation's governors are prepared to lead the way in crafting a sensible, sustainable clean energy future.’
