Nearly two dozen protestors braved the snow-covered streets of East Lansing, Mich., to greet attendees of the American Wind Energy Association's (AWEA) State Energy Forum.
The protest, which was organized by the Interstate Informed Citizens Coalition, was designed to shed light on the wind industry activities in Michigan.
Just the same, Michigan has more than 1.5 GW of installed wind capacity and 100 MW under construction, representing over $2B in investment, according to AWEA analysis, adding that officials are considering plans and a policy framework for additional capacity in the near future.
According to AWEA's website, the agenda for its state forums is designed to appeal to a broad array of Michigan wind stakeholders. The association did not return calls for comment.
