Michels Corp., based in Brownsville, Wis., has added a third erection crane to its fleet. The 16000 Manitowoc crane is the third new piece of erection equipment Michels has purchased over the last few months.

In December 2008, Michels brought in a DeMag 2400, a 440-ton lattice boom crane with the capability of handling 100-meter towers. In January, Michels purchased its largest crane to date: an 18000 Manitowoc crane. The 18000 is a 660-ton lattice boom crane that can handle the wind industry's larger turbines.

‘The 16000 crane is a 440-ton workhorse of the industry and is equipped with a wind jib,’ says Ron Tagliapietra, Michels' senior vice president. ‘Having this crane in our arsenal will just reinforce our commitment to provide top-line, quality service to our customers.’
