Talks surrounding an MHI Vestas Offshore Wind Energy turbine supply agreement with DONG Energy appear to be gaining steam.
MHI Vestas confirms that discussions surrounding turbine delivery have escalated with DONG regarding the V164-8.0 MW turbine for its 450 MW Borkum Riffgrund II project, located in Germany.
In June, DONG selected MHI Vestas as the preferred supplier. However, the two companies have yet to agree on an order.
According to DONG Energy, Borkum Riffgrund II – with an awarded grid capacity of 450 MW – is located in the North Sea, approximately 57 km off of the northwest coast of Germany.
The Borkum Riffgrund II offshore wind project is located next to the 312 MW Borkum Riffgrund I offshore wind farm, where DONG Energy has just installed the final wind turbine. The project is scheduled to be fully operational later this year.
