MetLife Inc. has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a leader in its Green Power Partnership program and has ranked the company No. 21 among the top 500 largest companies for its green power purchasing.
MetLife is expected to purchase more than 65 million kWh of renewable power annually throughout its U.S. operations, which is enough green power to meet 53% of the organization's electricity use.
MetLife's purchase also qualifies it to join the EPA's Green Power Leadership Club, a distinction given to organizations that have significantly exceeded the EPA's minimum purchase requirements. Club members must purchase 10 times the partnership's minimum requirement organization-wide.
