The North American Wind Research and Training Center (NAWRTC) at Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari, N.M., recently received battery testing equipment from Megger, a Valley Forge, Pa.-based manufacturer of electrical testing and measuring equipment.
The NAWRTC provides a 1.5 MW turbine in a new facility for applied research in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories as well as associate-degree training for wind energy technicians.
Megger donated the battery impedance test equipment that will be used to evaluate the overall health of the batteries used in the college's 1.5 MW wind turbine, and during class demonstrations regarding battery technology.
