Escondido, Calif.-based enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, and MidAmerican Energy Co. (MEC) have signed an agreement to build a 100.5 MW wind facility in Pottawannamie County, Iowa.

Construction of the Walnut Wind Project, which will include 67 GE 1.5 MW turbines, will begin this month and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Ownership of the Walnut Wind Project will be transferred to MidAmerican upon completion of construction.

‘We're pleased to continue our strong relationship with MEC, demonstrated by the fact that this is the fifth project enXco will build for the MEC group in the last four years,’ says Scott Nelson, assistant vice president for enXco. ‘The Walnut Wind Project follows the success of the recently completed 198 MW, two-phase Pomeroy project in Iowa.’
