Maxwell Technologies Inc. has debuted a new 3.0 V ultracapacitor product platform, designed to expand the energy-storage capacity of electric pitch-control systems for wind turbines.
The company’s 3.0 V 3400F ultracapacitor cell with DuraBlue technology has 40% higher power than its 2.7 V 3000F cell, in an industry-standard 60 mm cylindrical form factor, as well as a 54% increase in stored energy. Maxwell’s DuraBlue technology provides greater vibrational resistance and shock immunity than earlier ultracapacitor cells.
Maxwell notes that customers can seamlessly upgrade to the 3.0 V cell from any of the current 3000F or 3400F products.
