Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley is has requested that the developers of the Cape Wind project disclose cost and profit estimates, the Boston Globe reports.
Coakley filed an official request with the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities asking it to order Cape Wind Associates LLC to release the figures within three days.
The documents filed by the attorney general express concern about whether consumers will have to pay too much for the power due to a contract negotiated between Cape Wind and National Grid.
A spokesperson for Cape Wind told the Boston Globe that the cost estimates are proprietary and should be kept confidential.
‘The attorney general's office's request would create a new hurdle for renewable energy projects,’ says Cape Wind spokesperson Mark Rodgers. ‘This could have a chilling effect on companies investing in clean energy projects in Massachusetts going forward.''
