Worcester, Mass.-based Mass Megawatts Wind Power Inc. has released the first data sets from its Hunter, N.Y., wind power project. It is the company's first project incorporating a full-blown augmenter system, and initial data indicates an increase in wind velocity close to 55%.
In the data compiled in the past 30 days, the Hunter Project has achieved more than 70% augmentation during its first month of operation, the company says, adding that more data collection is needed.
During the course of these first two months, every level of wind speed and combination of prevailing winds from every degree was recorded. Throughout the varying conditions, the augmenter system has averaged out at more than 70% increased wind speed.
