In a 5 to 1 vote, Maine's Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC) has given preliminary approval of TransCanada Maine's plan to expand its Kibby Project, the Morning Sentinel reports.
The company wants to add 11 more wind turbines in northern Franklin County. A permit is scheduled for review by the company and LURC on Jan. 5.
The project is located on Kibby Mountain and Kibby Range. Under the company's expansion plan, construction would begin in 2011, and turbines would begin producing power in 2012.
