LM Wind Power Set To Roll Out Modular Factory In Brazil

0

LM Wind Power confirmed its plans to expand the company's position in the Americas through the construction of a new blade manufacturing facility in Brazil. The factory will be established in conjunction with LM Wind Power's joint venture partner Eolice and will deliver blades to wind farms in Brazil and throughout South America.

The location for its first factory in Brazil will be in the port of Suape, near Recife in the State of Pernambuco. Additionally, the new blade manufacturing facility will be located to serve major wind farms in northeastern Brazil and beyond, the company notes.

LM says the factory will be based on its modular factory concept, which was used for construction of factories in the U.S. Poland and China. The company anticipates blade production will begin in September 2013, and agreements with customers have already been finalized, LM adds.

Additionally, LM Wind Power says it is in ‘advanced negotiations’ with a number of wind turbine manufacturers to help manufacture larger blades between 40 and 70 meters for future wind power auctions.
