LM Glasfiber Launches New Blade Concept

LM Glasfiber has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Envision, a Chinese wind turbine manufacturer. The agreement comprises a blade supply contract of a minimum of 2,000 MW for Envision's wind turbines, starting with its 1.5 MW turbine. As a result of the agreement, LM Glasfiber will establish its fourth manufacturing facility in China, in Jiangyin, close to Shanghai. Production in the new factory is on track to begin in the second quarter of this year.

This agreement also marks one of LM Glasfiber's first large-scale contracts based on the new rotor blade concept called GloBlade. The LM 42.1 GloBlade offers a change to the industry standard for the 1.5 MW wind turbines currently available in the market. GloBlade offers aerodynamic design developed in LM Glasfiber's wind tunnel.

LM Glasfiber's fourth Chinese factory will be located in a new renewable energy business development area next to the Yangtze river. Work on the site has already started based on LM Glasfiber's modular factory design. Once in operation, the factory is expected to employ about 225 people.
