Lincoln Renewable Energy (LRE), a Chicago-based developer of solar and wind projects, has commenced construction of its 300 MW Hereford 2 wind power project in Castro County, Texas.

‘The start of construction of [the] Hereford 2 project marks the continuation of a very successful year for Lincoln Renewable Energy,’ says Philip Moore, the company's vice president of development. ‘To date, we have commenced construction on 30 MW of solar and 500 MW of wind power projects in California and Texas.’

LRE notes the project will take advantage of Texas' Competitive Renewable Energy Zone (CREZ) transmission project, which is meant to transport wind power to regions with high electricity demands.

LRE partnered with Higher Power Energy LLC, a Dallas-based project developer, on both phases of the Hereford projects.
