Kruger Energy's 101.2 MW Kemont Wind Farm in Quebec has received approval from the provincial government, clearing the way for August construction.
The wind farm will feature 44 Enercon turbines on agricultural land just south of Montreal in the communities of Mercier, St. Constant, St. Isidore, St. Remi and St. Michel.
The developer says the Kemont project is expected to begin operating in December 2012.
Per Quebec regulations, no towers will be installed closer than 750 meters from a residence, and none will be located closer than 2 km from a designated urbanized zone.
Kruger Energy says the project would provide between $20 million and $35 million of economic benefits to the region, creating 75 jobs during the construction and development stages.
