Kimberly-Clark Corp. has announced that it will purchase from Constellation Energy Green-e Energy-certified power sourced from wind energy facilities in Texas. The renewable energy credits (RECs) will match 100% of the electricity use at the company's worldwide headquarters, located in Dallas, from July 2011 through June 2014. The company's headquarters uses approximately 3,300 MWh of electricity annually.
‘By purchasing RECs, Kimberly-Clark is greening its energy use and supporting the operation and development of renewable energy facilities,’ says Michael D. Smith, senior vice president of green initiatives for Constellation Energy's retail business.
RECs from Constellation Energy can be purchased as part of a broader energy supply agreement, including electricity and gas supply.
