JASCO Applied Sciences, under subcontract to Tetra Tech Inc., is providing underwater acoustic measurement and monitoring services for the 30 MW Block Island Wind Farm, which Deepwater Wind is currently constructing offshore Rhode Island.
JASCO says it is conducting field data acquisition and subsequent analysis and interpretation for short- and long-term studies of noise from pile driving and related construction activities. The work is supported by staff from one of JASCO's U.S. offices, located in Silver Spring, Md., and the company says this engagement is part of a growing body of environmental marine acoustics studies that the company is performing off the eastern coast of North America.
"Being selected for involvement in this project reflects the valuable knowledge, services and systems JASCO can provide to support offshore wind, tidal and wave energy projects," says JASCO CEO Scott Carr.
