Ikeuchi Towel, a manufacturer of eco-friendly towels and related products, has been awarded the WindMade label for sourcing 100% of its electricity consumption from wind power, the first Japanese provider to be awarded the designation.

WindMade, which is backed by the UN Global Compact and conservation group WWF, requires participating companies to obtain at least 25% of their electricity from wind power. A front-runner in the sustainability sphere, the company has been sourcing renewable energy since 2002.

According to WindMade, 100% of Ikeuchi's power consumption are covered by wind power, which is sourced from the Noshiro Wind Farm in Akita, located in northern Japan
