Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Offsets 100% Of Energy Use

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR), a ski resort in Jackson Hole, Wyo., has begun offsetting 100% of its electricity usage with a renewable source mix that includes wind, biomass, small hydro and geothermal.

According to the company, its three-year renewable energy commitment has the same environmental impact as planting 5,292 trees. The energy offsets are part of a company-wide environmental management system that includes using sustainable construction for the new Bridger Restaurants and adopting a mass transit program for staff and season pass-holders. JHMR adds that its environmentally sustainable boutique hotel, Hotel Terra, will open in December.
