The conference is part of the U.S.-Canada Clean Energy Dialogue (CED), which was launched in February 2009 by President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The event is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and Environment Canada.
The purpose of the dialogue is to expand clean energy research and development, develop and deploy clean energy technology, and build a more efficient electricity grid based on clean and renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gases and combat climate change in both countries.
The conference will bring together key stakeholders from the U.S. and Canada to identify potential resources and markets for expanded trade in clean electricity and ensure continued cooperation between the two countries.
