Chicago-based developer Invenergy has completed construction and placed into service an additional 111 MW of wind power at its Grand Ridge Wind Farm in LaSalle County, Ill. The expansion consists of 74 GE 1.5 MW SLE turbines.
Together with the first phase of the project, which was placed into service in October 2008, the Grand Ridge facility is now capable of generating 210 MW of electricity.
Invenergy has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for 100.5 MW with Appalachian Power Co., a subsidiary of American Electric Power.
