Chicago-based Invenergy Wind LLC has commissioned its 37.5 MW Gorzyca wind farm, located in Darlowo and Malechowo, Poland. The company constructed the project with joint-venture partner Enerco.
Gorzyca is located approximately 16 km from the Baltic Sea, near the towns of Darlowo and Malechowo, and features 15 GE 2.5 XLE wind turbines.
Invenergy says the wind farm will benefit its host community by providing a number of local jobs, as well as tax revenue to local governments. The project will also help in achieving the binding Poland renewable energy standard target of 20% by 2021, as set forth in the 2009 European Union climate and energy package.
Invenergy and Enerco co-own 11 wind farms in Poland with a total operating capacity of 321 MW. The 11th project, the Ustka Wind Farm, is currently under construction and expected to be operational later this month.
