Invenergy LLC has canceled plans to develop a 100 MW wind farm in Brown County, Wis., citing uncertainty from state regulators, the Green Bay Press Gazette reports.
The developer sent letters to those who had leased land to build turbines and informed the Wisconsin Public Service Commission that it was canceling its contracts.
Invenergy stated that the move was a business decision and that further financial commitments to maintain the project could not be justified ‘while uncertainty persists regarding relevant project regulations.’
The corporate statement from the developer went on to say, ‘We'll continue to develop other wind projects in the state that do not require as significant an investment during an unstable climate. At the same time, we'll increase our development efforts outside Wisconsin, in states that offer more regulatory certainty.’
