The Center for Resource Solutions has certified FPL Energy's new WindPower carbon offsets product. FPL Energy joins the growing network of retail greenhouse gas reduction providers that offer products certified by Green-e Climate, a certification and verification program for retail offsets.
FPL Energy's WindPower carbon offsets have met or exceeded Green-e Climate's standards for project verification and measurement, consumer transparency and truth-in-marketing claims, and has been granted the use of the Green-e Climate certified logo.
‘Today, less than two percent of our nation's electricity is powered by clean renewable resources such as wind and solar energy, so we are pleased to introduce a new product that provides direct carbon-emission reductions while supporting renewable energy generation in the United States,’ says Nate Hanson, vice president of FPL energy power marketing.
The carbon offsets used in FPL Energy's WindPower carbon offsets are sourced from domestic renewable energy projects certified by the Green-e Climate protocol for renewable energy – a strict protocol for determining the eligibility of domestic renewable energy projects to provide offsets. By purchasing FPL Energy's WindPower carbon offsets, businesses and consumers will support currently available renewable resources, as well as aid the development of new renewable resources to be built in the U.S.
