Lawrenceville, Ga.-based Goracon Windpower Access Systems, a developer, designer, builder and installer of access platforms and maintenance units, reports it has received orders for 79 G-Service lifts and 102 G-Climbers.
Carl Vanhoutte, Goracon's president and general manager, says the contracts' specifications were highly technical based on the location of the wind farms.
For example, the company provided 30 G-Climbers for a wind farm in Oahu, Hawaii, where protection from corrosion is crucial. Further, the company provided 12 G-Service lifts for a wind farm near Ankara, Alaska. The G-Climbers for the latter project are the cold-climate version, which can operate normally in temperatures as low as -30 degrees C, the company says.
