Google has made an equity investment of $75 million in the 50 MW Rippey wind energy project, located in Greene County, Iowa, the company announced on its official blog.
The project, which is currently in operation, was developed by RPM Access and uses Nordex 2.5 MW turbines manufactured at Nordex USA's manufacturing facility in Jonesboro, Ark. Construction was handled by Mortenson Construction.
Central Iowa Power Cooperative purchases the power generated by the wind farm under a long-term power purchase agreement.
With this investment, Google has put $990 million into renewable energy.
