GES Announces Acquisition of WKA of Germany

Conshohocken, Penn.-based GES USA, a provider of operations and maintenance services for wind turbines, has acquired WKA-Service-Fehmarn, Rotoclimb GmbH and WEA Rotorservice Gmbh, all of which are based in Germany.

WKA-Service-Fehmarn employs more than 80 personnel. Among its core competencies WKA lists are maintenance, repair and inspection of rotor blades and towers using purpose-built working platforms. Currently, 26 working platforms are available for deployment. In addition, WKA provides technical inspection of blades and towers using rope-assisted climbing technology.

While WKA's operations have been centered in Europe, GES plans to apply WKA expertise and personnel across the company's international divisions, especially in the U.S. market.


‘Our customers and contract partners will further benefit from WKA-Service-Fehmarn's high-quality service and specialized skills,’ says David Fernandez, chief operating officer of GES USA. ‘We will be better able to respond to increasing demand for integrated services, and we will increase the availability of our services for our customers.

Both GES and WKA are privately held, and financial terms were not disclosed.
