GE has announced that it has installed 20,000 wind turbines around the world, which the company says represents enough electricity to power the equivalent of Hong Kong and London for an entire year.
In the U.S. and Europe, 40% of new power-generation installations over the last four years have been wind projects, the company notes.
GE achieved its 10,000th turbine milestone in November 2008 and its 15,000th in February 2011. This year, the company plans to install more than 3,000 wind turbines around the world.
