GE is reporting that the 45 MW Paldiski Wind Farm, located on the Pakri peninsula in northwestern Estonia, is producing power.

The wind farm, which features 18 2.5 MW wind turbines with a 100-meter rotor, is the first by GE in Estonia. According to GE, the wind farm is supported by a 10-year service agreement, which includes advanced anomaly detection, unplanned maintenance and an availability guarantee.

With strong winds coming off the Baltic Sea, the turbine maker describes the region as one of the most promising in Europe. According to Martin Kruus, chairman of the Estonian Wind Power Association, Estonia erected a record number of wind turbines last year with a total capacity of 86 MW that led to the overall capacity of 269 MW.
