GE has announced an order from Suncor Energy for 55 of its 1.6 MW wind turbines for the Wintering Hills wind project in Alberta, Canada.
GE's 1.6 MW wind turbine makes use of a range of product features, including 82.5-meter blades, to maximize power output, provide control flexibility and more reliability, and decrease maintenance requirements, according to the company.
The 88 MW Wintering Hills project is located approximately 78 miles northeast of Calgary. GE plans to deliver the wind turbines beginning in the second quarter of 2011. The project is owned jointly by Suncor (70%) and Teck Resources (30%).
