GE has signed a $394 million contract with Brazilian wind energy developer Renova Energia for the delivery of 230 GE 1.68-82.5 wind turbines.

The turbines have a 10-year operating contract, which will be managed from GE's services center. The purchase is part of Renova's expansion plans, which began in November 2011 with the construction of the 386 MW Alto Sertao II Wind Farm in Bahia, Brazil.

The partnership between the two companies began in Brazil's first auction dedicated exclusively to wind energy, held in December 2009.
