GE's wind energy division has selected the Port of Wilmington, Del., as its port of entry for several large shipments of wind turbine blades. M/V Industrial Freedom is the first of four vessels that are scheduled to discharge a total of 264 blades in Wilmington through early December. The 132-foot-long blades will be distributed to land-based wind farms in the mid-Atlantic region.

‘Our terminal facilities, location, transportation infrastructure and, most important, our experienced and high-skilled workforce provide GE and their project customers with an efficient and safe distribution solution for these large, fragile and high-value wind turbine blades,’ says Gene Bailey, executive director of Diamond State Port Corp.
