GE Energy Enters Contracts To Supply 750 Wind Turbines

0

GE Energy says it has signed new contracts for 750 1.6 MW turbines for wind farms in North America and South America over the next two years.

According to GE, the 1.6 MW wind turbine was launched in May and offers a 47% increase in swept area over previous megawatt-class models, resulting in a 19% increase in annual energy production at 7.5 meters per second wind speed. This allows the turbine to deliver moderate wind speed performance while operating in a low-wind environment.

In related company news, GE Energy also announced more than $800 million in commitments to supply wind and gas turbines to projects in Brazil.
