GE notes that it has expanded its wind turbine production facility in Brazil, as well as installed its 500th turbine in the country.

The company says the expansion of its Campinas, Sao Paulo, manufacturing facility will create 35 new jobs. Co-located with Brazilian machinery manufacturer and GE Group subsidiary GEVISA, the plant will produce nacelles for GE 1.7-100 and 1.85-82.5 wind turbines.

In addition, GEÂ has announced its 500th wind turbine installation in Brazil. The 1.6 MW turbine was installed at DESA's 38 MW Eurus project in Joao Camara in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

"Wind energy is one of Brazil's fastest-growing energy sources," comments Jean-Claude Robert, general manager of Latin America for GE's renewable energy business. "Last year, the country added 1,077 MW of wind to the grid – 40 percent of which were GE installations."
